Xia Bliss is ONE!

I am speechless for once in my life...Xia has turned our world upside down, sideways, and every other wonderful, crazy, way life SHOULD be. She is our whole world, without her we'd be lost. I don't remember life without her. Everynight after Oscar and I turn in and give good night kisses, we just lay in bed and tell each other how awesome our little angel is. She is amazing and amazes us each and everyday! Life is GOOD!

Today I thought a lot about 1 year ago today... I'd like to share a few
  • After mild, overnight contractions, we got to the hospital a few minutes before 8am on 2-3-10, you were born a mere 2.5 hours later @ 10:23am! You are like your momma...if we're gonna do it, do it NOW! You didn't waste any time!
  • I was able to deliver you w/out any pain meds - this might explain some of your stubbornness;)!!!
  • You are a fighter. Your cord was wrapped 4 times around your neck and you were born without any complications. Thank you, Jesus and Praise you!
  • The dr said that if my labor wasn't so fast, that we would've had to have an emergency c-section because of your heart rate dropping with every contraction. Again, Thank you, Jesus - you answered all of our prayers!
  • Dr Murdock- not my Dr (who had the day off), but a very good, and experienced Dr, said to me before leaving "let me shake your hand - you are one tough dude"!!!
  • How much I take for granted until I reflect on the past...
A few reflections over the past 12 months
  • Struggling with nursing in the beginning, which I'm glad we "worked together" (a phase I repeated over and over again out loud when nursing was tough) through it all.
  • You are still nursing 3x a day - morning, nap time, and bed time. It's a special bonding/relaxing time for us. Not sure how much longer it will continue, but I know it will be a decision for the BOTH of us to make when it's time to quit. We're in it together:)
  • Wishing for one good nights sleep when you were oh so little. After 6 months of panic and sleeplessness, I have my rest every night!!! I'd do it all again.
  • Letting you nap in the swing, regardless of what the books said! That was a life saver!
  • That you rarely took naps...but after 9m, you started taking these amazing 2 hr naps! Hallelujah!
  • Your first, beautiful smile - it made me forget how tired I was, how messy the house was... it was breath taking, priceless, and precious!
  • Getting you dressed everyday...it's like playing doll! You are a good sport:)
  • Thinking you were always teething, but you didn't cut your first teeth until 10.5m!!
  • How sweet and loving you are to your mom and dad...I'll never forget your sweet, open mouth kisses. It brought tears to my eyes - tears of joy!
  • How incredibly fulfilled we feel everyday just being your mom and dad
  • Your laundry...I actually like to clean/wash, and iron your darling wardrobe! I'll do anything for you, dear one!
  • How bath time makes you the happiest girl in the world!
  • Your first taste of baby food ... you have always been a good eater. I love making your food and feeding you!
  • A LITTLE CURIOUS... what would I have done w/out you?! Xia, you love this show since you were about 4months old. I learned how to accomplish miracles in the 24 minutes of the show. I think once I even got a shower in, styled my hair, and put on makeup in one episode! You still love this show. So glad it's captured your attention all the while being a great, wholesome, learning show.
  • How daddy and mommy's relationship grows each day just by having/knowing you
  • Our jogs. You usually nap during our 45min up to 2hr runs. You are a trooper! Thanks for being such a good sport and cooperating so mommy can get a workout in:) I couldn't have trained for the San Antonio Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon if it weren't for your cooperation. I will never forget our jogs.
  • How much light and life you bring out in others. You are my sunshine, my pumpkin pie, my Xia Bug, XBG, Momma, my love, mi amor, doll baby... just to name a few of your nicknames:)...
Xia, I love you more than you'll ever know. You might discover the surface to the depth of our love for you when you have your own children. I LOVE YOU - with all my heart! Mommy:)
