Our Neighbor Jo and "Baby Love"

Xia and I visit our neighbor, Jo (83 years young), at least once a week. She is the sweetest, most kind person. I feel like I'm visiting with a long lost friend everytime I see her. She treats Xia like a movie start when we go over there and is constantly praising me for my mothering ways. How could I not love this woman?! As a first time mother, it is nice to get an ego boost every now and then! One thing that she continues to compliment me on is making Xia's baby food.
One day she was watching Good Morning America and they did a special on homemade baby food while promoting a baby recipe book, "Baby Love". Well, Jo got me the book. It's fabulous!
The past couple of days I've been busy making wonderful baby food for Xia using the recipes in this book. I mean who wouldn't want to eat these delicious combos?:
  • Banana/Apple/Pear
  • Papaya/Banana
  • Apple/Prune/Pear
  • Cinnamon/Apple/Oatmeal/Raisin
  • Peach and Apricot Oatmeal
  • Strawberry/Banana/Pineapple
  • Pear/Cranberry/Turkey
  • Zucchini/Carrot/Apple
  • Spinach/Broccoli/Cauliflower
  • and Creamy Butternut with Nutmeg
I still have the below to make in the upcoming days:
  • Blueberry/Apple/Pear
  • Baby Guacamole (contains small amounts of onion and cilantro)
  • and Poached Salmon with Carrot.
Until now, I've been making one fruit or veggie at a time and then mixing a couple different ones upon meal time, however, the approach of this one pot, no mess book is awesome! Since she is older now and we don't have to worry about trying one food at a time, this method is so much less time consuming.

Also, Xias food has more safe chunks to it and is thicker. Now if only she had some chompers to bite down on some of the soft, small "chunks"!

ok love this -- i might have to get this book. cameron would probably appreciate some more combinations than using sweet potatoes & apples in everything :)
