Sleeping Beauty's Bed Time Update

It's been a week and a half since I've written about bed time. It has been a journey to say the least and its not where I want it to be, but at least Oscar and I have remand sane through it all!!!

We have stuck to the same bed time routine through this whole process with includes a nursing, play time, solid foods, bath time, and bed time nursing (all happens between 530/6 pm-ish - 9/930 pm-ish).

The week after my last post went something like this...
Monday night:
  • in Bed @ 925pm, awake @ 10pm
  • cried for 45mins
  • asleep @ 11pm
  • woke up to feed @ 5am and 730am
Tuesday Night:
  • in bed @ 8 pm, awake @ 9pm
  • cried for 30 mins, played in crib for 30-40 mins
  • asleep @ 1015 pm, awake @ 1040pm
  • nursed back to sleep around 11pm
  • woke up to feed @ 330am and 745am
Wednesday Night:
  • Similar to Tuesday night, except woke up several more times during the night
Thursday Night:
  • Watched a movie with mom and dad ( I was mentally tired from bed time being a 2 hr ordeal, so I gave her her bed time feeding in our media room, while we watched a movie)
  • alseep by 10pm, awake 30 mins later
  • nursed back to sleep - she slept from 1155pm -925am with one feeding @ 2am
  • (notice it was still a 2 hour ordeal, just postponed?!!)
Friday Night:
  • Movie night again with mom and day!
  • asleep @ 11pm, awake @ 1 am (did not feed)
  • slept from 1am -730am!!!
Saturday Night:
  • she woke up about every 2-3 hours to feed... I think she has entered a growth spurt!
Sunday Night:
  • Went to bed around 1045 am and slept until 1020 am ...WITHOUT WAKING UP ONCE!
She is back to going to sleep and waking up within an hour of going to bed, but instead of letting her cry, I pick her up and pat her back and she normally goes right back to sleep. She is currently waking up every 3-4 hours. I keep telling myself give it time and I keep asking myself "how much time"? But as in all things baby...TIME is a key factor.

Xia has been such a trooper through it all. Have I mentioned we are about 3 nights shy of celebrating one month in her crib?! AND... she naps outside of the swing and in her crib! These are both huge accomplishments! Way to go little one:)

And then there are nights where we CHERISH the love! These pictures are from the other night where she just made it into the crib for the first 30 mins, then woke up and wouldn't let go of either one of us. We hadn't had her this cuddly since she was a couple weeks old. Naturally, we allowed this and cuddled with her :) In case you were wondering, she did make it back into the crib later on that night:).

Also, some mornings when she wakes up around 730 am-ish, I will nurse her in our bed where she proceeds to go back to sleep for 2-3 more hours. She then makes sure that her hand is grabbing the sleeve or strap of my night shirt and her legs are propped up on my thighs. For a baby that is not much of a cuddle bunny, she can sure get cute and cuddly when she sleeps! When she does cuddle like this, my whole world just stops and I close my eyes and try to capture that moment in my head. All of a sudden my messy house doesn't seem so messy, and my must- do-to-do list shrinks, and the exercise dvds stop calling my name. At that moment I am in a place that I never want to leave - I am in love with the most beautiful, darling baby in the entire world:)

I close her good night prayer with "... may Jesus give you peace and rest, peace and rest, peace and rest tonight ...". I start to doze off, yawn, and rub her head and pat her back (hoping that if I repeat it enough, that peace and rest will immediately come over her!) .
May peace and rest be yours tonight and every night:)
