XBG = LOL

Xia Bliss has been laughing out loud when I play with her. It is so cute, I want to cry out of pure joy! It is the most *bliss*ful sound that has ever filled my ears! We got it on video the other night. Hopefully I can post it soon.

Little by Little, Inch by Inch

While Xia Bliss has been growing and gaining, I've been losing inches and pounds. It's been no easy feat for me, but it's exciting to witness my loss and bittersweet to witness Xia's!

I started taking my measurements a month after XBG's birth and have taken my measurements every consecutive month. It's exciting to see the inches fall off and makes me feel encouraged when the scale doesn't give as much. By 6 weeks (end of March), I'd lost 20 of the 33 pounds I gained during pregnancy. Many of you know that I am a lifetime member of Weight Watchers and have been loosely following their nursing mothers plan. So between counting points, exercising, and nursing, I've been satisfied with my progress. In April I lost 3 lbs, May 3lbs, and so far in June 2 lbs. So 5 more lbs to lose of pregnancy weight, then I start to tackle the 8-10 pre-pregnancy, post-honeymoon lbs! Of course, it's not all about weight lost, I also need to work on gaining muscle and firming up.

A few weeks back, I packed Xia's newborn clothes away, which was a little emotional for me. Although the up side is that she now fits into a lot more clothes which are super sweet and darling! After I started feeding her rice cereal mixed with formula, I can tell she's been gaining more. We go to the Dr next week for her 4 month check up. At her 2 month check up (she was already 11 wks), she weighed 10lbs, 7 oz. She's just started fitting into size 2 diapers - she's growing up just under my nose! Also, this week I had to adjust her car seat straps to fit a taller, bigger baby. You can see from the pictures below the difference of how she fits in her car seat from ages 3 days to 3 months.

Today, I looked at all her pictures from birth. It seems like she's been with us for years, yet it's only been over 4 months. I have loved each stage. I am doing my best to cherish everyday no matter the daily obstacles (ie, lack of sleep, fussy days, napless days, etc) that may arise.
I am amazed by all the growing up that my little cupcake has been doing. She is "talking" and wants to touch everything and put everything in her mouth! It's a hoot! We have her in bibs, because she drools, drools, and drools! When she talks, she drools. When she gets excited, she drools. When she focuses on toys, faces, etc, she drools! So, so, super cute! I am in love. XBG, you have my heart.

My Sleeping Beauty

ZZZzzzzzzz's Please!! Last night Xia Bliss successfully slept in her crib overnight! Last night is the first "real" night in her crib and also the first night of one week commented to consistently working with Xia on sleeping in her crib. It was actually the best she's slept in weeks...She went to bed around 9:15pm, woke up at 2am for a light feeding and at 6am and again at 7:30am.

Her bed time sleeping schedule has varied since birth. As most newborns, she had her days and nights mixed up! Around 5 weeks old she started sleeping 6 hour stretches. That was AMAZING!! That lasted about 2 1/2 weeks, then back to waking up every 2-4 hours. Then around 13 wks / 3 months (also Mothers Day weekend) she slept 7-10 hours straight a night for 7 consecutive nights. Since then, she's been waking up several times a night. I've come to accept that it may be a while before I get a full nights sleep again and that's ok!

Now nap time is a whole different story! She goes through phases of taking 1-2, one+ hour naps, to a few 30 min naps per day. Just recently she's been taking a good 2 hour morning nap and about a 1 hour afternoon nap. She mainly takes naps in her swings. I can't just lay her down in her pack n play or crib... that has NEVER worked with her! I've gotten use to her crazy, unreliable nap time and just roll with the punches! My daily chores do not get done most days, but when I focus on life's big picture, I'm ok with my non routine, non organized, messy house life style (not really, but I'm getting there!):) Love you XBG!

4 Months Behind...

Thank you for being so forgiving, my dear blog! I am just getting to the point of catching up after the birth of our precious little girl :). I left a lot of things hanging since my last post... the birth and birthdate of our daughter, her name, and just notes on life! Here it goes...:

XIA BLISS GARCIA
is her name

BORN

February 3, 2010 @ 10:23 am

weighing in @
6lbs, 5ozs

Xia Bliss just hours old

She came a day after her due date which made me super happy...couldn't have gone much longer feeling so large! And she was known as Baby Girl Garcia until the evening of her birth. We just couldn't make up our minds! She is a joy to us and we are so grateful for such a lovable, healthy baby girl! We are still trying to figure out who she favors. Her eyes are a steal gray color, so we're holding out a few more months to see which color they change to.

Xia is such a happy child. She smiles and makes all sorts of noises! She wakes up talking to herself... SHE IS BLISSFUL! Here is her 4month photo...isn't she a doll?!

June 1, 2010 we fed her rice cereal. Xia loves it! She opens her mouth as I shovel it in. I don't know what it is about feeding her, but it absolutely thrills me to feed her!! And because I'm so sentimental, I've posted a picture below right before her first feeding!

39 weeks and a Birthday

I am 39 weeks pregnant as of yesterday! We've gotten so much accomplished in the last month since I've last blogged.

In baby news: we got the baby's room all set up! My mom came over 2 Sundays in a row and helped me out tremendously. The room is all pretty, well organized and ready for our baby girl to arrive. Secondly, we had our friend, Faith Delgado (Faith's Photos), take our maternity pictures. They are posted on facebook to view. She did an amazing job and we are so pleased:).

In other news: over New Years weekend we attended our good friends, Jordan WIggins and Donnie Lopez's, wedding. It was beautiful and the whole weekend was a lot of fun. It all took place in Galveston at the Hotel Galvez. It was a nice little get away.

Oscar's birthday is tomorrow! He'll turn 41! This year I got him "toys". I'm sure he will enjoy them just as much as any teenager:)!
